Apple Computer has spoiled us with their unique invention; the iPod. This device is capable of carrying thousands of songs at any one time, as well as videos and photographs. It can even replace your handheld organizer by tracking your appointments everyday. The iPods have so many uses that they have become more than just music 24 hours a day for teenagers but they have become actual dependable working gadgets. Apple computer, at least every couple of years makes sure to keep on adding to their production line to encourage everyone in the family to pick up one type of iPod or other; the original iPod was followed by the iPod Nano and the most recent addition is the iPod shuffle, which is the smallest, lightest music device with such high capacity in the world.

Be Special

It goes without saying that all the models within the Apple iPods line are very popular; with each one having its own particular features and/or to fill virtually every one of your requirements. Additionally, as if they haven’t done enough already, Apple introduced a limited version of red iPod nano devices. The classic iPod color can only be modified if you put a custom case over at, however the iPod Nano models are the only types that come in various different colors such as green, blue, pink, red, white and black.

You Can Make a Difference by Choosing the Red IPod Nano

What is particularly unique about the red iPod nano is that it is not only a limited edition but also due to the fact that it is made with a noble cause in mind: to help support AIDS in Africa, so when you purchase a red iPod nano, Apple will donate $10 of the proceeds to charity so you will also be making a difference in the world by buying a unique red iPod. If you want to buy your red iPod Nano, go to Apple computers official website or an official Apple computer store and pick one up. Also you can find them in most leading electronics department stores all over the USA; keep in mind that this is a limited edition and so it will not be available for a long period of time.

You can pick up a red iPod Nano in 4 GB and 8 GB models, which can hold up to 2000 songs, and/or approximately 25,000 photographs; it has 24 hours of battery life and a 1.5 inch LCD color display. However, one of the most important features when it comes to the red iPod Nano is that it also provides hope for those with AIDS in Africa. By picking up a red iPod Nano today you can enjoy the latest electronic gadget in music with one of the brightest colors and styles while helping to save a life at the same time.

Sony is dusting off the name “Walkman” to compete with Apple’s iPod. The Japanese are building on their own music experience to capitalize on the popularity of the smaller MP3 player.

In the eighties and nineties the Sony Walkmans and Discmans were a part of everyday life. But these days the MP3 player has market dominance and the Japanese company has faded. Apple and its iPod is now number one.

Just last week both companies introduced new MP3 players which will be in direct competition with each other. Sony introduced two players under the name “The New Walkman”, while Apple released the iPod Nano.

Sony is using the name “Walkman” in the hope that 26 years after the first introduction of the famous cassette player that name still has competitive value. However, we must conclude that however great Sony’s past accomplishments they have missed the boat in the MP3 revolution in a major way. The main cause for Sony’s failure is their stubborn refusal to give up the Attrac3 music format. While the whole world was exchanging MP3 files it was only last year that Sony introduced players that can handle this format.

By that time Apple was just releasing its seventh generation of iPod-type players.

Sony now markets the NWA-1000 and NWA-3000. These music players can directly communicate with the Sony music store “Connect”. It is also possible to copy files from the computer directly to the players.

Sony is well known for their activity in the music and film business. They must use their position in this field to regain market share and prestige in this interconnected industry. Interconnected because it seems that it is both Sony’s and Apple’s strategy to heavily interconnect music player, software and music store. Apple’s iTunes was the first Internet music store offered large-scale legal downloads of MP3 files.

Sony won’t give us any figures about their sales and market share. Steve Jobs (CEO of Apple) has no problem with figures. Perhaps the major reason for this is how good they are. Apple claims about half a billion downloads in a heavily growing market.

The iTunes store is heavily focused on its cooperation with the iPod. This player is definitely the market leader among the more expensive MP3 players which have their own hard disk. In the cheaper segment, MP3 players with the so called flash memory, the leaders are Creative, LG and iRiver. The iPod Shuffle with its flash memory couldn’t do much about that. The negative sentiment about the shuffle was mainly due to its lack of an LCD screen and relatively high price.

With the iPod Nano Steve Jobs’ Apple has a twofold challenge on its hands. Firstly there is the above-mentioned competition with Sony. Secondly, the new Apple player has a storage space of 4Gb of flash memory and no hard disk.

The iPod Nano is the successor to the iPod Mini. Apple is constantly reducing the physical size and the prize of their players. Their strategy seems to be to concentrate on iTunes as their major profit producer.

There is an interesting time ahead of us — we will see heavy competition between Apple and Sony both in the interconnected markets of the MP3 players and their respective music stores.

Who will win? I don’t know, but one thing I do know is that Apple was almost broke at the end of the last century. It has been under the leadership of Steve Jobs that Apple made an almost miraculous comeback as a major player on the global market of mini-electronics.

SellyourCell.com, America’s Original Wireless Recycler, will purchase used Apple iPod portable media devices from consumers for between $19.00 and $149.00 at www.SellyourCell.com/ipod. Orlando, FL (PRWEB) February 13, 2006 — SellyourCell.com, America’s Original Wireless Recycler, will purchase used Apple iPod portable media devices from consumers for between $19.00 and $149.00 at www.SellyourCell.com/ipod. “Offering to purchase the Apple iPod is big step for us, as it is outside of our corporate emphasis on cell phones. However, the internet infrastructure and technical facilities we have in place are well-adapted for adding this to our product mix. Additionally, we love the iPod as a product, and look forward to repurposing ones that would wind up in someone’s drawer until they were obsolete,” said Keith Ori, CEO of SellyourCell.com. “Apple is coming out with new, better, and smaller technology at a faster pace than even the wireless phone industry, which is amazing in and of itself. However, this creates very short product life cycles, and therefore the need to recycle is apparent,” said Ori. To facilitate the iPod purchase, SellyourCell.com has added an iPod category to their website at www.sellyourcell.com. Fifteen different iPod models will be purchased. Each individual model of iPod is clearly described to avoid confusion on the part of the site user. In addition to paying consumers to recycle their iPods and cell phones, SellyourCell.com has always offered free shipping, and their new “Speedy Ship” option allows the consumer to download a pre-paid return mailing label at the time of the order. “We are the first company of any scale that we are aware of to offer to purchase and recycle iPods for consumers, and it is exciting to be an innovator,” Ori said. SellyourCell.com is a six-year-old subsidiary of Sundog Inc., based in Orlando, Florida. Sellyourcell.com offers to pay consumers to recycle their used cell phones and Apple iPods through their website www.sellyourcell.com. This process eliminates a number of hazardous and harmful substances from coming into contact with the environment and provides a generous financial incentive for participating. SellyourCell.com is one of the oldest companies offering this type of service and continues to be a leader in the wireless recycling industry.

Ipod has become famous among all age groups. Apple iPod has become the major need for all the funky and young kids. Guys who are in music profession will surely owe one of the different iPod or sometimes more than one.

The demand for iPod is increasing every day. Apple iPod has today become synonymous with the term MP3 player. Apple could analyze the lack of digital music player and launched a hard drive based Mp3 player in late 2001. This model was titled as Ipod which had classy and striking looks. The iPod earphones has its own identification and is always been blamed for majority of street robberies.

Even a normal iPod can store multiple music. It was an achievement from the beginning, but the truth that it was only Mac compatible held back sales slightly, although Apple did in fact see an augment in sales of Apple Macs due to populace wanting to be able to make use of the IPods.

In 2003, the sales boosted even high with the launch of new version of IPod i.e. with iTunes software, that was well-suited on both Macs and Windows PCs. Apple IPod enjoys 90% of the market were as normal MP3 player just shares 70% market as whole.

By launching several versions of MP3 players meeting all the technological advancements Apple has made themselves shine in the world. The latest models display photos and videos as well. Some also give the option to store official hard copy of the documents. iPod mini, iPod nano and iPod shuffle are the three most needed model among individuals. All the three meet the same purpose.
iPod Mini – Apple’s first iPod by-product was the iPod mini. This product was quite smaller but almost similar to the original one. This iPod was obtainable in many colors and was planned to target unusual market.

iPod Nano: in year 2005 apple made an decision to discontinue sales of IPod mini. This iPod mini was replaced by iPod nano. They are smaller than the mini players and feature colored screens. Apple has come under some censure though for the screens on the nano as many customers have criticized that they damage too easily.

iPod shuffle: The introduction of first flash drive based iPod began with iPod shuffle. The capacity of these iPod is very limited around 512 MB or 1 GB is available in the market. It doesn’t have any display screen. One can easily listen song through it in a random order or can set a playlist in iTunes.

The recently launched cars are intended with wharfing ports to make integrating iPods to the in car system easier. Trendy clothes are designed with a special pocket to hold the iPod. Well, other iPod with wonderful facilities are still available in the market but of-course not as fashionable as apple.

It seems as if all is not perfect in Apple’s little tinseltown. Indeed, Apple’s new iPod, the iPod Nano, has seen amazing sales and high critical acclaim. But not everything is flawless, and now Apple is coming under some rather large lawsuits over its miniature sized iPod device. In fact, these lawsuits claim that Apple knew of the defects in its iPod Nano mp3 player but decided to push for its timely release despite the fact.

There is no complaint with the iPod’s hardware or effectiveness, rather, this suit says that the iPod scratches too easily, particularly the screen. The complaint blames the nano’s defectiveness on the film of plastic resin that covers it to protect it from damage. Previous versions of the iPod were coated with thicker and stronger resin, the suit says. “Rather than admit the design flaw when consumers began to express widespread complaints … Apple concealed the defect and advised class members that they would need to purchase additional equipment to prevent the screen from scratching excessively,” the complaint says.

The plaintiff, a man by the name of Jason Tomczak, claims that his iPod Nano was so scratched up he couldn’t even view the screen any longer. Apple actually agreed to replace his iPod, but only because of a battery problem, not because of the screen itself. But Jason claims that even the new iPod Nano screen came scratched. Apple even required Jason to pay a $25 fee to have the replacement iPod sent, something that is being hit on in the suit.

While the results of these Nano problems remain to be played out, the fact remains that it appears Apple can’t always hit all the right notes with their new iPods. Something, somewhere always appears to go wrong no matter what you are dealing with.

After reports of Apple iPod nano scratching, LASERline launches silicone iPod nano accessory. New York (PRWEB via PR Web Direct) December 28, 2005 — After increasing media reports about the Apple iPod nano’s susceptibility to scratches, LASERline introduced an iPod nano accessory that repels dust and scratches. LASERline’s Silicone Skins are made of light-weight, high-grade, waterproof silicone elastomer that won’t break, snap, tear, pill or split like rubber. The LASERline silicone skins are translucent membranes that fit snugly around the Apple iPod nano. The shock-absorbing material protects against accidental bumps as well as annoying fingerprints and scratches. The skins have an anti-static feature which repels the dust that can scratch and harm an iPod. Because the skins are waterproof, rain, snow or sweat are not problems, so users can take their music with them wherever they go in complete comfort and style. “This is a stylish and affordable way to protect your investment,” says Jack Graham, vice president of sales for LASERline. “And we have Silicone Skins to fit all iPod models not just the nano.” Apple iPod nanos are so portable they can be slipped into a shirt pocket or the small coin pocket of a user’s jeans — but left unprotected, they are subject to annoying scratches that can distort the screen and impact their sleek look. The LASERline Silicone Skins are the perfect iPod nano accessory. LASERline Silicone skins for the Apple iPod nano are available in a variety of colors including: pale baby pink, icy blue, pearly white and not-so-basic black. Customers can also purchase the skins in convenient two-packs of white/black, pink/purple and blue/green. Five-packs of white, black, blue, green and pink are also available. LASERline Silicone skins are available online at iPod nano accessory skins for $14.99 and come with a free neck lanyard and wrist strap. About LASERline LASERline offers an extensive line of portable and home or office media storage as well as an ever-growing product line of media accessories. LASERline designers create products that offer innovative solutions for the electronic industry. The company puts enormous forethought into the front-end design of its products so the end product is stylish, functional and cost-effective.

Today the Apple iPod is leading the market in the portable music player industry, having sold around 15 million iPods since they were released. But some people are now saying like the Apple Macintosh once an industry leader the iPod will also become a memory.
Looking to the near future at the main competition for the Apple iPod are the new age mobile phones. Not only do they have the normal features of a mobile phone but they’re also adopting a higher standard of digital camera and a built in MP3 player. Unless Apple decides to bring the iPod into the mobile phone industry, we may see them move to the back of the shelf at ebay.
Below are an example of some already available mobile phones that incorporate the higher standard digital camera and MP3 player:
* Motorola MPx220
* Siemens SX1
* Sony Ericsson P910i
* Sony Ericsson W800i
Looking at the Sony Ericsson W800i, this mobile phone offers a 2 mega pixel digital camera with video recording capability. Also a built in MP3 player and the phone comes with a 512mb Memory Stick™ PRO Duo. This maybe only capable of holding around 150 music tracks or 10-15 full length CDs. You can upgrade the memory stick to 1GB doubling the storage capacity.
Obviously the Sony Ericsson W800i does not have the storage capacity of a 60GB iPod video, but looking at the technology trends everything is getting smaller with higher storage capacity.
Once mobile phones have a higher storage limit (60GB) they will also have the capability of playing MP4. Then your every day mobile phone will be a Phone, Camera, MP3 music player and an MP4 video player which fits in your pocket.
Please visit my e-tail store at www.digitalsdownunder.com
General Motors, Ford Motor Company and Mazda Motor Corporation are talking with Apple Computer.
General Motors and Ford, number one and number two automakers, will provide compatibility for seventy percent of autos sold in the United States for Apple Computer. All new models produced by GM and Mazda will offer iPod integration. Ford will offer this technology on many Fords and Lincoln Mercury models this year.
Automakers say they are reacting to consumer trends. Sales if iPods and MP3 players should more than double between 2005 and 2009. Sales are predicted to be 132 million a year in 2009. Since Ipod has approximately seventy-five percent of this market currently, it makes good sense to work on integrating the technology now into autos.
BMW installed IPods into the audio system two years ago. The player is plugged into an adapter that goes in the glove box. Using the car’s normal controls, users can access their own music library.
Apple has already signed deals with Acura, Audi, Ferrari, Honda, Nissan, and Volkswagen. This will bring this new amazing technology into most cards sold in the United States with a short period of time.
This is technology and good marketing at its best and the consumer will get what they want at a reasonable price.

There are many folks that hate both Apple and Microsoft portable media products. Apple makes iPod and Microsoft makes Zune. Fortunately for the consumer, there are other good portable media players out there now but do not have the same visibility as Apple and Microsoft products. Discussion about these other portable media players like SanDisk’s Sansa series and Creative’s Zen series devices are beyond the scope of this article. This article is about basic iPod and Zune similarities and differences. In addition, sources for purchasing music online for iPod and Zune will be briefly discussed.

The iPod is a portable media players designed and marketed by Apple and released to the public in 2001. Currently, as a digital audio player, the iPod is the best-selling music player in history. Zune is Microsoft’s digital audio player, released in 2006, directly competing with Apple’s iPod. Each of these portable media players deliver what it was intended to do which is to play music or audio, display images, and play video. Each has their pros and cons.

There are many Zune and IPod similarities and I will list major ones. They each have the same starting price of around $249, disk storage, picture capacity, screen resolution, and aspect ratio. They play audio, pictures, and video. They have USB connection (to another device, typically a computer), battery, and similar battery life.

Both devices support MP3, MP4, M4A, M4B (for audio), and MOV (for video) file formats. The Zune favors Windows Media Audio (WMA) while iPod has its protected AAC format. When it comes to exchanging files, you will need software tools to convert your iTunes files to MP3 or convert Zune WMA files to MP3. Both systems support JPGs (for still images) and MPGs (for video).

There are advantages that Zune has over iPod. Approximately 60 hours more video can be stored in the 30GB version. Zune has a larger screen size and is capable of portrait mode display. Zune has wallpaper, FM radio, wireless connectivity, and faster battery charge. Zune Plays WMA audio formats and WMV video formats. It has one more standard case color: brown!

There are advantages that iPod has over Zune. iPod plays games, is compatible with the Audible, Apple Lossless, AIFF, and WAV audio formats. It plays H.264, M4V, MP4, MOV, MPEG-4 video formats. It is slightly smaller and lighter than Zune. The iPod software works on PC and Mac. Zune only works with PCs.

The primary websites for music downloads are iTunes Store for iPod and Zune Marketplace for Zune. Both sites offer music downloads of 0.99 cents per song. With Zune Marketplace, you can buy a monthly subscription for $14.99 a month for unlimited downloads as long as you have a subscription.

But there are other online music stores out there so you are not limited to Apple and Microsoft. Do an online search for “online music stores” and determine what works for you.

The stores that I recommend are offered here and have one time fees:

For iPod music and video downloads, go to www.FeedMyiPods.com
For Zune music and video downloads, go to www.zreactor.com

Have fun with what ever portable media player you choose!

http://www.ipod-vibez.com After watching the iPod fuel a resurgence of Apple Computer Inc. that’s now in its fifth year, Microsoft Corp. belatedly jumped into the market for portable digital music and videos Thursday.
The question now is, will its Zune effort be too little and too late for the proverbial 800-pound gorilla of the technology industry?
“Microsoft is a threat simply because of the supply of money it has to put toward this,” said Gene Munster, of Piper Jaffray. “But, at the end of the day, Apple has the market, and Microsoft has a hard road to go down.”
Apple and Microsoft have faced off numerous times before, most famously in the battle for computer operating systems. Apple largely owned the personal-computer market until International Business Machines Corp. launched a PC in 1981 that ran on Microsoft’s operating system. Apple never truly responded to the Microsoft threat and found itself a niche player in the business, while PCs running on Microsoft software took over the industry.
Apple, though, learned from its mistakes and made the iPod work with Microsoft Windows-based PCs — a move that arguably spurred iPod sales and created a situation in which Apple’s iPod now claims about 75 percent of the U.S. market for digital-media players. More importantly, this has led to a perception among consumers that if you don’t own an iPod, you’re using something that’s second best.

Join the digital age with watch thousands of movies on your ipod today
http://www.ipod-vibez.com

By pressing the proper combination of buttons on the iPod’s face, you can force the device
to reset, enter Disk Mode, scan its hard disk for damage, and perform a series of diagnostic
tests. Here are those combinations and the wonders they perform:

Reset

First three generations of the white iPod: Plug the iPod into a powered FireWire
device (the Apple iPod Power Adapter, an auto adapter, or a built-in FireWire port),
and press and hold Play and Menu for 6 seconds.
Fourth-generation iPod, iPod Photo, and iPod mini: Plug the mini into a powered
device (the Apple iPod Power Adapter, an auto adapter, or a built-in FireWire port)
or a high-powered USB 2.0 port; then press and hold Select and Menu for 6 seconds.
When you reset your iPod, your data remains intact, but the iPod restores the factory
settings. This technique reboots the iPod and is helpful when your iPod is locked up.

Disk mode.

First three generations of the white iPod: Reset the iPod. At the Apple logo, press and
hold the Previous and Next buttons.
Fourth-generation iPod, iPod Photo, and iPod mini: Reset the iPod. At the Apple
logo, press and hold the Select and Play buttons.
Use this technique when you need to mount your iPod on a Mac with an unpowered
FireWire card (a FireWire PC Card in your older PowerBook, for example) or on a
PC with a similarly unpowered FireWire or USB 2.0 connection.

Disk scan.

First three generations of the white iPod: Reset the iPod. At the Apple logo, press and
hold Previous, Next, Select, and Menu. An animated icon of a disk and magnifying
glass with a progress bar below it appears.
Fourth-generation iPod, iPod Photo, and iPod mini: Click-wheel iPods don’t offer a
button combination to scan the hard drive. Rather, you must access this function
through the iPod’s Diagnostic screen (which I explain at great length later in this
chapter).
Use this combination when you want to check the integrity of the iPod’s hard drive.
This test can take 15 to 20 minutes, so be patient. Be sure to plug your iPod into the
power adapter when you perform this test so that the iPod doesn’t run out of juice
before the scan is complete. If the scan shows no problems, a check mark appears
over the disk icon. To return your iPod to regular use, press Play.

Diagnostic mode.

First three generations of the white iPod: Reset the iPod. At the Apple logo, press and
hold Previous, Next, and Select.
Fourth-generation iPod, iPod Photo, and iPod mini: Reset the iPod. At the Apple
logo, press and hold Select and Previous.
Diagnostic mode includes 16 tests for the first three generations of the white iPod, 19
tests for the iPod mini, 21 tests for the fourth-generation iPod, and a mess o’ tests for
the iPod Photo that may help you determine what’s wrong.

Creative Technology Ltd. just went into an agreement with Apple Computer Inc. It is now foreseeing that with the kind of agreement that it has with Apple, their sales for the last quarter of this year would experience an increase. The agreement allowed Creative to make accessories for the iPod. Both companies are trusted when it comes to audio devices. Creative is based in Singapore and is the creator of Nomad and Zen MP3 players. As per Apple, it is the company that crafts the iPod and all accessories related to the device.
Craig McHugh is the president for Creative Labs Inc., which is the company’s arm in the United States. He comments, “It gives Creative a dramatically larger market than what we have today – we see the combined Zen and iPod markets as a huge revenue opportunity. We expect to see new sales into this market contributing to the quarter.”
As per the agreement, McHuge further estimates that Creative would be able to create iPod accessories for over 50 million users of iPod around the globe. Along with that, it would also be creating products for its Zen products. All these would surely be translating to huge amounts of income for the company. Creative would be doing its own design for the products associated with the iPod player – from iPod speakers, to earphones, and even headphones.

Apple recently announced the release of the iPod Radio Remote. This little accessory combines a wired remote control with a FM radio receiver. It works with the iPod nano and the most recent generation (fifth) of iPods.

The iPod Radio Remote is a convenient way for music lovers to control their iPod and add FM radio for a reasonable price point. Using the remote, you can skip tracks and adjust the volume of your iPod even when it’s in a pocket or backpack. It’s main feature – lets you and listen to FM radio stations while it displays station and song information on the iPod’s screen.

“The iPod Radio Remote combines two great features in one elegant product,” Greg Joswiak, Apple’s iPod Marketing guy said recently. “The iPod Radio Remote is both the best remote control and the best FM radio listening experience for iPod.”
If you search the Apple iPod store online, you will also find a couple of competitors that launched similar products ahead of Apple. But I must admit, the Apple Radio Remote is a cleaner package. If you live in the city and get good FM reception, this is a nice little add-on. If you live in the burbs and are looking for great sound – similar to the quality that you get from your iPod, then forget about the iPod Radio Remote. Why, because it is like any other small FM radio, it needs a strong signal to give you decent sound.

But don’t give up, there is quite a lot happening in the real time audio market and you will have more choices in the coming months.
There were several rumors in 2005 about Apple and satellite radio for instance. “The iPod is the biggest, baddest thing around and satellite radio is this small, cool device,” said Steve Mather, an analyst with Sander Morris Harris. “Put them together and it’s the ultimate.”

But there has been no evidence that such a dream machine is in the works. Earlier this year, Sirius Satellite Radio CEO Mel Karmazin said he had approached Steve Jobs, the chief of iPod maker Apple Computer, about a possible deal but said Jobs wasn’t interested.
Sirius didn’t sit on its butt. The created their first portable device called the S50, a small, sleek device used with a docking port in your car. It is like a TiVo for radio. It automatically stores music for later listening. You can schedule recordings from both music and talk stations (with a firmware upgrade), save favorite songs, and link up to a PC to load music files. But… you can’t see the song list for recorded music. The S50 is available only with a car kit and the controls are hard to use.

Not to be left out, XM recently unveiled a new satellite radio for spring ‘06. Like their initial radio, the new receiver will pick up satellite signals as you are walking around outside. No docking station is needed, which is a huge advantage over the Sirius S50. It also has 1 gigabyte of memory so that you can record 50 hours of radio play. Out doing the S50 – there are no restrictions on how or what you can record. In fact, XM has made it even easier to capture individual songs.

The new XM player also provides a “tag” feature that let’s you immediately purchase any song you hear from Napster’s online store. When you reconnect the player to your computer, you can get those MP3’s that you just purchased to create a mix of MP3’s and radio content on the player.

XM now appears to be ahead of Sirius and Apple in the radio wars. To prove it they announced the XM Passport, a small card that can be plugged in and out of future XM enabled devices. With the passport card, you need only buy one subscription to XM radio to power a number of satellite receivers; just plug in your passport card.

Apple has a reputation for excellence with its line of iPod mp3 players. All of its players have proven to be of the utmost quality offering the best music playback, the most amount of music storage, the sleekest design, the ease of use, and all of these brought together in an affordable, appealing package. Each of the new iPod’s have brought something new and intriguing to the table while still offering the same level of quality, style, ease of use, and price. Needless to say, the iPod Nano is continuing the iPod legacy and it is maintaining the reputation that Apple has gained through its iPod line of products.

iPod has gained what it calls a “halo effect,” basically meaning that its iPod line has become so popular and well respected that it has spawned many off shoots. The iTunes has been one such feature that has become successful due to the iPod products. iTunes has become a very popular choice for downloading music both for iPod users and those with other mp3 players. The iPod line basically launched the iTunes method of downloading music and has made iTunes very popular and successful.

The iPod Nano has maintained that effect by offering the innovativeness and quality that make it unique. Apple is also using its iPod Nano to try to broaden its user base even more and attract more customers through its sleek, cutting edge design and technology and the simple fact that it is so small and easy to carry anywhere. Those who either didn’t want to carry around the fairly large iPod or the featureless iPod Shuffle now have the perfect blend in the iPod Nano.

The iPod has changed the way that the world listens to music and, as long as Apple continues to put out quality products such as the iPod Nano, it appears as if iPod will be the leading competitor in the mp3 market for years to come.

The Ipod Nano
Apple iPod Nano – Revolutionizing the Mp3 Player World by Gregory Nirshberg
I don’t think it’s an exaggeration to say that the advent of the Apple iPod revolutionized mp3 players. The look, the style, the sound quality, the navigation, the features, the seamless integration with iTunes and other services, all these separate components added up to a spectacular and revolutionary mp3 player. Each new mp3 player that Apple has released has pushed the envelope for design and all around use. First they miniaturized the iPod with the iPod Mini. Then they miniaturized that, and by getting rid of the LCD screen were able to offer the Shuffle for unheard of low prices for an iPod. Now they’ve gone to the next level. The Apple nano.
But will it really revolutionize mp3 players? Yes. And here’s why:
Size and Storage
Take the iPod, shrink it, shrink it again, and then shrink it one more time and you have the Nano! It’s no thicker than a pencil and slides right into your back pocket without even noticing, literally! The nano is smaller than most other flash mp3 players, but has something that none of them do: 2GB and 4GB file capacities. No flash mp3 player has the kind of file capacity that the nano has. And what this means is that you can store a previously unheard amount of music on an mp3 player with no moving internal parts, i.e.- a completely skip free player.
Signature iPod Quality
Remember that this is an iPod, so you have unmatched usability and sound quality. The player comes with the Apple signature click wheel and navigation system. It hooks up seamlessly with iTunes and other standard Apple software. The sound quality, as with all iPods, is excellent.
Brand New Features
The Nano comes with a full color screen which can display multiple image file formats in a crisp high quality format. It also now syncs up directly with Microsoft Outlook and Outlook Express for contacts and colander functions and to-do lists. One of the coolest and most useful new features the nano comes with is a stopwatch and lap timer. Because it’s small and flash based, the nano already is great for working out, but the stopwatch can record many lap times and then give you shortest, longest, and average lap, as well as your overall time and individual lap times.
The Cool Factor
What can I say? The iPod nano just oozes cool from every angle. It’s small and sleek. The colors are hot. The navigation is excellent. It can play music or audio books, display pictures, or even do both at once!
Conclusion
So what’s the nano done to push the envelope and revolutionize mp3 players? It’s made the largest file capacity flash mp3 player ever. It’s added a brilliant color screen to display images. And it’s added tons of neat new features previously unavailable on iPods. And it’s done all this while not giving up what we have come to know and love about the iPod: superb sound, navigation, and usability. There isn’t much negative to say about the nano. At $200 and $250 respectively, the 2GB and 4GB iPod nano sure isn’t cheap, but it is unmatched as a flash mp3 player and worth every penny if you want the coolest ipod around.
http://www.ipodreviewed.com/Ipod_Nano.html

Technology is no longer stand alone innovations. When Apple releases IPOD variations or innovations, it energizes many different corporations. They design and market accessories like cases, rechargers, car adaptors, docking stations and more.
It is like a tango as and when Apple introduces temptations many satellite industries gear up to simultaneously make available for the consumer accessories. In fact analysis by NPD group reveals that for every US$3 million spent on IPODS a minimum of US$ 1 million is spent on accessories.
A whole chain has been created. There are accessory makers, designers, advertisers, marketing gurus, and retailers. And for most, accessories fill the till better than the IPODs themselves as profit margins are greater. It is not a one way street where satellite industries reap all the goodies. With racks filled with add-ons for IPODS, marketing campaigns, reviews, and demos Apple benefits by the creation of the “ultimate” image of greatness. The eco system creates a hype placing Apples IPOD as the “coolest” ever.
The range is huge, from simple cases priced from US$10-US$200 to speakers, transmitters, docking stations, baby strollers with a specialized slot for the IPOD, a belt with a buckle designed as an IPOD holder. For those with money to spend there are massage chairs with an IPOD holder in the armrest, customized speakers with glowing tubes and see through panels, as well as boom boxes.
As far as businesses are concerned it is a complete phenomenon with one small product leading to the creation of a whole industry or world. Unlike past successes like superman or Barbie dolls or the success of Disney land Apple has refrained from offering “complete” packages themselves. The accessory manufacturing remains small.
The business model or plan until now was not the creation of a single entity or exclusive partnership but an open system where many industries can vie for a slice of the Apple “gold dust”. But the balance is shifting and Apple is offering options like “Made for IPOD” logos in return for a royalty.
IPOD has not just inspired accessories but changes in simple things like clocks with snooze mechanisms. Now such clocks have been modified so that they can be easily paired with the IPOD. Then there are headphones, ear phones, beach bags, as well as clothes with IPOD pockets. Now in 2006 cars will be sold with IPOD facilities. The IPOD world seems to expand and there are no signs of slowing down at all.
The IPOD ecosystem is fast growing and is a multibillion dollar industry world wide. No one would have dreamed that a simple no frills digital player would spawn entrepreneurs world wide and since the “Bata” module the Apple IPOD has taken the center stage to create a business model where along with Apple thousand others taste sweet success.

iPod Is Dominating the Market, and There Is More to Come

iPod contributes 12-14% of total company revenues, a number industry experts believe will continue to increase. With this increase comes pressure on gross margins, as the blended iPod gross margin of 20% compares unfavorably with Apple’s corporate average of 27-28%. The iPod helped augment Apple’s growth by expanding its addressable market from the core computer market, which continues to grow, but at slower rates. To increase penetration of the rapidly growing MP3 player market, Apple launched the iPod Mini internationally in July 2004, and HP’s iPod launch is scheduled for later in summer. http://www.ipodreviewforum.com

Apple’s entry into the digital music player market (MP3 market) with its popular iPod expanded the company’s addressable market and signaled a turn in Apple’s strategy. The iPod is a cultural phenomenon that is capitalizing on the convergence of digital consumer electronics and the computer, and Apple’s position as an early mover enabled it to achieve the number-one position in the marketplace. iPod adoption continues to accelerate, with little indication of a slowdown. It took Apple approximately 18 months to sell its first million iPods, but its second million came in six months and its third million came in four. In fact, it appears that only its suppliers can slow it down, in particular the hard-drive vendors, which are having a difficult time meeting demand. Industry experts believe that iPod’s growth will remain strong in the foreseeable future and do not expect any significant customer fallout stemming from Apple’s inability to meet demand.

An analysis of the launch of the Sony Walkman in 1979 indicates the market opportunity for a revolutionary portable music player will remain strong for several years to come and Apple is expected to maintain a strong share for the next few years (unlike Sony’s experience with the Walkman).

While iPod and iTunes generate significant awareness of the Apple product, they have done little to grow Apple’s core Mac business. Experts attribute this mainly to Apple’s aboveaverage pricing, along with continued ignorance on the part of consumers regarding the compatibility of Windows and Mac. With regard to pricing, the average consumer desktop PC retails for $1,019, which is $280 below Apple’s low-end price point on Apple’s now, discontinued flat-panel iMac. Furthermore, the industry ASP is falling as most of the growth in the market is taking place in the sub-$1,000 market.

With regard to the compatibility of Windows and Mac OS X, even though Apple made a concerted effort to educate consumers about the ease with which these two products work together, it has fallen on deaf ears for the most part. Apple made some progress through its retail stores, where it estimates half of Mac purchases are from first-time buyers, but for Apple’s stock to work over the long term, the company needs to maintain share against Windows, at a minimum. Understandably, Apple wants to avoid selling PCs at a loss, but unfortunately the growth prospects for $1,000-plus PCs are limited. This presents a conundrum for Apple longer term, but for now it maintains its current strategy. Incidentally, Apple’s revenue share has held much better, and while this is not an often-discussed topic, revenue share is probably more important than unit share. http://www.ipodreviewforum.com

iPod compatibility on the original iPod was designed for use with Macintosh computers
running Mac OS 9 or Mac OS X but Apple began selling a Windows-compatible iPod too on July 17, 2002.
Apple released a Windows version of iTunes on October 16, 2003; previously, Windows users needed third-party
software such as Musicmatch Jukebox (included with Windows iPods before the release of the Windows version
of iTunes), ephPod, or XPlay to manage the music on their iPods.
iPods originally shipped formatted with Apple’s native filesystem, HFS Plus (Hierarchical File System) and
consequently would only work with Apple’s Mac OS because Windows does not support HFS Plus.
An iPod formatted with HFS Plus is able to serve as a boot disk for a Macintosh computer, allowing one to
have a usable, portable operating system installed on their iPod.
With the advent of the windows-compatible iPod, Apple switched iPod’s default file system to FAT32 because
FAT32 is the only file system that can be used natively with both Mac OS and Windows. Fourth-generation and
earlier iPods could still be made to boot a Macintosh by reformatting their hard disks with HFS Plus.
The iPodLinux project has successfully ported an ARM (Advanced RISC Machine) version of the Linux kernel to
run on iPods. It currently supports first through third generation iPods, and features simple installers for
Mac OS X and Windows. The Linux interface is known as “Podzilla”.
The interface will run on all iPods, however the development team does not support its usage. The iPod uses
standard USB and FireWire mass-storage connectivity, and therefore any system with mass-storage support can
mount it and use it as an external hard drive. The iPod will also charge from any powered USB or Firewire
port, regardless of software support.

April 1st 2006 will be Apple’s 30th birthday. You don’t have to be a genius to work out they’ll be quite a few new offerings. But the clever money is on something quite special – would the real iPod video, please stand up!

Apple’s competition won’t see the funny side of the 6th generation iPod. They’re still shoehorning there way into a market Apple dominate, with a current market share of around 80%. Apple have been very careful not to call the current 5th generation iPod – ‘iPod Video’.

Trebling the screen real estate, a new touchscreen click wheel will be located actually on it’s new stunning 16:9 HD widescreen. And improved battery life will allow Apple to deliver the sucker punch … quality content. We expect them to launch the 6th generation iPod with a plethora of avaiable content.

Apple not so long ago prepaid $1.5 billion to secure stocks of flash memory. If the iPod incorporated a card reader, it would be a convenient way to watch movies. Freeing up a lot of space on your hard drive for music etc.

So is this hot air or a hot product? Combining numerous insider sources with Apple’s recent patent and trademark applications would suggest the latter.

The futures bright. The futures Apple.

With good quality content currently thin on the ground – some may say the April Fool is being played on the 5th generation iPod owner, about 10 million of them to date. Content is scarce

In the meantime Apple are under the microscope with claims from one American male that his iPod is going to make him deaf, should he continue listening to it the way he does! Got to love him for trying.

So does this mean, with the imminent arrival of the ‘real’ video iPod and quality iPod porn movies at websites such as “my-mojo.com” – the iPod could make us blind as well!!

In the realm of MP3 players, Apple (producer of Macintosh computers and related technology) is the definite dominator when it comes to having the most highly-purchased products among the other manufacturers. One of the main reasons for this – simple as it may seem – is basically out of customer loyalty to the originator of this portable audio device. It was the first of its kind on the market and still remains today, the brand of choice.

Apple actually released the iPod in 2001 as a portable audio device that was strictly compatible with Macintosh technology. Working in unison with Apple’s iTunes, Mac users were able to create, maintain and utilize countless numbers of sound files in their music and audio libraries. However, due the growing popularity among its customers, many Windows users were feeling left out and wanted to be able to take advantage of this great new way of listening to and downloading music and other audio as well. So, in 2002, Apple produced a new form of iPod that was compatible with both Macintosh and Windows interfaces. And later in 2003, they gave the Window’s world a compatible version of iTunes as well. This made the audio playing and storing consumer market very happy.

Then eventually, other companies like Sony and Samsung began producing MP3 players as well but have never reached the level of success that Apple has with their iPods. And moreover, it doesn’t look like those competitors ever will. Statistics show that Apple and their iPod actually dominate the MP3 player market with a 70% selling advantage over other manufacturers of these types of portable MP3 audio devices. And when it comes to hard-drive based MP3 players, they’ve got a whopping 90% lead over the competition.

The main reasons consumers complain about the non-Apple brands of MP3 players is that not only are the competitor versions too expensive, but they are strongly lacking in form. They just don’t have the ease of operation in terms of user-interfacing and also don’t include a lot of the convenient and ‘cool’ features that the Apple iPod does either. Generally speaking, the iPod emphatically outperforms the other manufacture’s brands of portable audio devices by a mile (or more).

And with the addition of Intel into the Apple product line as a whole, the iPod is only going to continue to be improved upon causing it not only to remain the favorite, but also further expand its appeal throughout the music-loving universe.

Just imagine…if the iPhone turns out to be as cool, as user-friendly, as reliable, and down-right revolutionary as the iPod…then my 60 GB video iPod will one day soon be as relevant to my life as the hundreds of CDs that I’ve digitized to get rid of them.

A little convoluted, perhaps, but my point is simple: Before the iPod, it was CDs, and CD players (I had a friend with something like a 12-disc changer and he was like a god to us audiophiles), and making sure your car had a CD player, and portable CD players.

Then came the iPod, and it was like, “Hold on, now! I can store all those CDs I’ve been so careful not to scratch (and remember how awful it was when you were dumb enough to let someone borrow one of your CDs and it was returned blemished??) on this little thing?” As soon as I was able to listen to it without the pesky earbuds, man, it was heaven. Still is.

Every day as I get ready for work, there are 3 things I don’t leave home without: my coffee mug, my Palm Treo, and my 60 GB video iPod. I’m like a modern-day cowboy walking into the office with both of my six-shooters on my sides (one in each pocket making my pants sag a bit).

Steve Jobs and the wizards as Apple must’ve been reading my mind: Can’t it be simpler? Why can’t I talk into my iPod?

Very shortly, we’ll all be able to.

Here’s the low-down on what will likely be the product that coasts Apple into the next decade:

* 4-8 GB storage makes it a solid little mp3 and video player;

* 2.0 megapixel camera — I’m no Amsel Adams, but I’m guessing you can take a great pic of your best friend snarfing nachos on game day with this thing;

* As a cell phone it will have all the standard bells and whistles: calling (duh), voice mail, SMS, which allows you to text, email, and surf the Web;

* Bluetooth, for you wireless freaks out there

* And best of all, in my opinion, it’s going to work on the Apple OS X platform. What this means for the uninitiated, for those of you who are still using PCs (I have one myself, so I get it), is that for *free* you’ll get the coolest, more seamless, full-of-fun operating system on the planet.

On that note, my guess is this: If Apple can sell an iPhone to half of the iPod users on the planet, and they get used to Apple OS X, it will create a sea change in the computer market. Apple will sell more computers, regardless of price, because people who’ve never handled a Mac — and aren’t brave enough to enter the totally remarkable, awe-inspiring, yet daunting Apple retail stores — will finally get to see what the other 13% know: that Apple is the future.

So, you’ve holed up in your cavern for two and a half days playing halo and everything’s been going great. But, the problem is that you ran our of red bull and your roommate has been waiting to vacuum under the spot that you’ve been residing. It’s time to move, but you need to keep playing. Drat, this world and all its injustices! Not so fast battleship galactica, there just may be a way out of your predicament. Downloadable iPod games.
As of yet, you’re still shooting parashooters jumping out of planes and still trying your luck (and wit, I’m sure) at solitaire; but things are about to change. Apple has remained fairly quiet about the software and possibilities that are awaiting the next evolution in iPods, but there are some reasonably trustworthy rumblings out there that downloadable iPod games are on the way.
There has been a lot of talk about an Eden Praries based company that would be in charge of getting the software together for Apple in order for the downloadable games to run. Just the idea alone makes a lot of sense for Apple, as what can they do next to top the functions of the 5th gen iPod, without using downloadable games?
And I don’t know who said that necessity was the mother of all invention, but the never faced the competition of computer hackers. There’s a plethora of hacks out there that are available to hook you up with 3rd party software that can currently make iPod downloadable games a reality. But, if you’re a little shy and feel a bit uncomfortable with doing illegal business with a guy that’s sat in his basement for longer than you, there’s no problem, because Apple is already on the job.

New Unique Accessory line provides Product Personalization and Protection for Apple Computer’s iPod, iBook, and G5 iMac Computer products. San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) January 16, 2005 — CreativeMind™ today announces a new line of accessories called “istyle” for the iPod line of Apple Computer digital lifestyle products. The first series of products to be released include “istyle for iPod”, a full body wrap that protects the screen, scroll wheel, top, bottom, sides and corners and comes in over 50 different eye catching designs, to allow the iPod owner total visual customization of their iPod while also protecting it from daily abuse. The istyle product line is focused on the concept that individual style should be embraced and that you should be able to use your sense of style on your “digital lifestyle” products. The product line’s other focus is on protecting your Apple product investment and extending its design by giving the user customizable graphics and product protection in a variety of colors, graphics, and text to make your product uniquely your own. Product Protection istyle protects your product by adding a layer of clear cling plastic over the Apple product, protecting it from daily abuse, in the case of products such as the iPod and iBook this issue demanded a solution. Robert Stewart designer and developer of istyle explained, “…you could use one of the many cases on the market but the problem we wanted to solve was what happens when the product is not in the case, we thought most Apple product owners probably have a sense of individual style and should be able to reflect that in their product protection solution, hence “istyle” was developed to address’s those concerns…” istyle protects your investment and gives the user a customizable look to their product for a nominal cost. User Customization One of the main benefits of istyle is its ability for the Apple product owner to customize the appearance of their product to reflect their own personal style. istyle products will be available in several versions, including: clear, solid color’s, quotes of wisdom, eye catching graphics as well as specialty plastics. Installation of all products is easy, our static cling product (“istyle icling”) adheres with no tape, glue or adhesive. While our low-tack adhesive product has a very mild stick that allows for easy on and off installation and does not leave a residue. Corporate Customization CreativeMind will also have the option for schools and companies to purchase the istyle line of accessories with custom graphics to display corporate logo’s, company names, division’s, or school departments. Personal orders to customize graphics will be available as well for an additional cost. Other benefits istyle accessories provide a simple way to protect your Apple investment, customize its look, and extend the unique user experience of your Apple product. All istyle accessories allow for the industrial design of the Apple product to remain completely intact and will not harm the operation of your Apple hardware*. The istyle product will not harm or impede on the performance of your Apple product when used properly and will provide protection against scrapes, scratches and minor nicks into the plastic and metal body parts. The istyle vinyl plastic can withstand the heat of the iPod and will not melt, or yellow, and the color will not fade for 6 months* or longer. istyle even provides basic moisture and water protection to your Apple product once applied. The application of our our istyle “icling” (static cling) product requires no adhesive so there is never any sticky residue left on the product once removed. istyle Accessories: For iPod, Apple’s breakthrough MP3 player we have developed a one sheet wrap around design that protects the screen, scroll wheel, top, bottom, sides and corners though still allows full access to all ports and docking accessories. The product compliments any existing case, and it’s color designs can be seen when used with white or clear rubber molded cases. Apple’s iBook series will be available for both 12” and 14” models and will feature a top and bottom istyle skin. The top unit will be available in clear, various colors similar to Apple’s original iBook and iMac line as well as various eye catching graphics, as well as quotes of wisdom. This product was developed not only to protect your iBook and to give it individual style but also to resurrect an idea that came along with the classic Apple Powerbook 1400 that had an insert for color graphic art for the top of the case. Istyle products that will be available on March 1st include the 3rd & 4th generation iPod’ wraps with later release dates for the 1st & 2nd generation iPod, iPod Mini, iPod shuffle, iBook, G5 iMac and iMac Mini products based on user demand.
